Is Justdial worth it? Sulekha, IndiaMART, Google compared

Start with your free Google Business Profile. Free Justdial and Sulekha listings are worth a few minutes, but test paid plans before a year-long contract.

Is Justdial worth it? The free listing usually is, but a paid plan only pays off if you count the customers it brings, and Justdial's plans run for at least a year.

Start with your free Google Business Profile. Then add the listings that suit your trade, with your name, address and phone exactly the same on each.

What each listing is for

These four get confused because they all "list" businesses. They suit different businesses and charge in different ways. Everything below is from each platform's own pages, as of November 2026.

Google Business Profile comes first

Google says you can manage how your business shows on Maps and Search at no charge (Google Business Profile Help). For a shop or clinic, it's usually where nearby customers find you first.

You can't buy a better spot there. Google says there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Reviews, and how many websites link to your business, help you appear (Google Business Profile Help).

The other listings work alongside it, for people who search Justdial, Sulekha or IndiaMART directly. Our Google Maps listing guide covers setting the profile up properly.

Justdial: free listing and paid ads

The free listing takes a mobile number. You add your name, address, hours and photos, choose categories, and can reply to reviews and questions.

Justdial Ads are the paid part. On its listing page, Justdial says they help you rank higher in its search and send you customer details by SMS, email and push notification (Justdial). Its advertising page leads with "Get assured 24 Verified Leads every month" (Justdial Ads).

The same page answers the questions that matter before you pay:

  • Price: not published. The page asks for your mobile number to get started.
  • Payment: by credit card, debit card or UPI, either a year up front or monthly.
  • Minimum tenure: 1 year.
  • Pausing: asked whether you can stop a campaign and restart it later, Justdial says it doesn't offer this at the moment.
  • Area: you can target leads from specific regions.

Justdial's pages also show advertisers' success stories. They're the platform's own marketing, not independent results, so treat them as examples, not a promise.

Sulekha and IndiaMART

Sulekha works on a pay-per-lead model. Its FAQ says there's no registration fee and you pay only if you accept a lead (Sulekha FAQ).

The price of each lead depends on your category and location, and Sulekha shows current prices in its business app rather than on the website (Sulekha). If you reject a request, Sulekha says it goes to another provider. It suits trades that quote for jobs, like AC repair, pest control or home tuition.

IndiaMART calls itself a B2B marketplace. A free listing needs at least 3 products or services, and it charges no commission or transaction fee (IndiaMART).

Its paid Mini Dynamic Catalog costs ₹40,000 for one year, ₹72,000 for two and ₹90,000 for three, before tax (IndiaMART Help, as of November 2026). IndiaMART's paid services page lists other plans, some on quote only. It's worth it for a small manufacturer in Howrah selling to other businesses, not for a café or salon.

So, is Justdial worth it for your business?

The free listing is worth ten minutes for almost any local business. Whether to pay depends on one number: what each paying customer from it costs you.

Test before you commit. Keep the free listing for two or three months, and ask every new customer "How did you find us?" Write the answer down.

If Justdial does send customers, then ask for a quote. Here's the sum, with made-up numbers. If a plan costs ₹4,000 a month and brings 4 paying customers, each costs ₹1,000.

Compare that with what a customer is worth to you. A ₹1,000 customer can be cheap for an AC service contract, and far too much for a ₹200 haircut.

Remember the 1-year minimum. You're agreeing to 12 months of that cost, whether the leads turn out good or not.

Keep your name, address and phone identical

Whatever you list on, use the same details everywhere. Customers trust a business whose details match, and mismatches make you harder to find.

Google's guidelines say to represent your business as it's known in the real world. Your name should match your storefront, website and stationery (Google's guidelines).

They also ask for a precise address and a phone number under your direct control. Use a local number rather than a call-centre line where you can.

  1. Write your details once: name, full address with pincode, one main phone, website.
  2. Copy and paste them onto every listing, never retype.
  3. Check old listings too, such as a shop that moved from Park Circus to Ballygunge. Update or remove the old address.

Before you sign a paid listing plan

Ask these, and get the answers in writing:

  1. What's the price, including GST, monthly and for the full term?
  2. What's the minimum term, and can I pause or cancel?
  3. Is payment by automatic debit, and how do I stop it?
  4. What counts as a "verified lead", and does each lead go to me only?
  5. Can I choose the areas and services I get leads for?
  6. What happens to my listing and reviews if I stop paying?

The same care applies to any contract. Our guide to what to check in a web agency contract covers minimum terms and notice in more detail.
