Your own ordering page, or a delivery app?

What restaurants report paying the apps, what your own page costs instead, and when the app is still the better choice. Many places use both.

Facts about other companies are as of November 2026, from the sources listed below.

What the apps charge

Swiggy and Zomato don’t publish one commission rate. Swiggy’s own partner guide says the commission depends on the restaurant’s locality and on the extra promotions it signs up for, so each restaurant’s rate is in its own contract. What has been reported in the Indian press:

  • 16% to 30% is what Storyboard18 reported Zomato and Swiggy typically charge (June 2025).
  • 10% to 16% for large brands, and usually above 20% for smaller outlets, according to an analyst at Alvarez & Marsal quoted by YourStory (July 2025). Some eateries told YourStory that commission, ads and discovery fees together come to 45% to 50% of their payouts.
  • 8% to 28% is the range the president of the Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels Association was reported as giving, in Free Press Journal (page dated July 2026).
  • 30% is what a Ghaziabad restaurant owner told ETV Bharat the platform takes (January 2026).

Platform fees, GST, ads and discount programmes can come on top. Business Standard, citing a JM Financial study, reported that more than 85% of restaurants charge more on the apps than for dine-in (June 2023).

These are ranges reported by the press, not official rates. Your own contract with the app is the only number that counts for you.

Work it out with your own numbers

Type what you sell through an app in a month and your commission rate from your contract. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The starting numbers are only an example. Use the rate in your own contract.

Commission at that rate, a month ₹20,000

₹2.4 lakh over a year.

Your own ordering page with us: ₹1,298 a month before GST (Menu ₹299 and Online orders ₹999), whatever you sell, plus a website plan if you don’t have one with us yet.

Only the orders that move to your own page save the commission. Regulars are the ones who move.

When the app is the better choice

  • You need customers who don’t know you yet. That’s what the apps are good at, and your own page won’t do it for you.
  • You don’t have anyone to deliver. We don’t provide riders. Without them, your own page is pickup only.
  • Your orders are mostly one-off. If few people order twice, few will move to your own page.

Many restaurants do both: stay on the apps to be found, and give regulars your own link with a QR code in every bag, on the table and on your Google listing. How we set this up for cafés and restaurants.

Questions owners ask

Do I have to leave Swiggy or Zomato?

No. Your own ordering page works alongside them. Many places keep the apps for new customers and move regulars to their own page.

Who delivers orders from my own page?

You do, with your own staff, inside the pincodes you choose, with your own delivery fee and minimum. Or you take pickup orders only.

How do customers pay?

By UPI, with a link for the exact amount and the order number, or at the counter. The money goes straight to your account. There is no card gateway yet.

What does it cost?

Menu is ₹299 a month and Online orders ₹999 a month, before GST, with no commission. If you don’t have a website with us, a plan adds the website build and care: see pricing.
